I flew this year to vacation for the Holidays and went through 3 different airports. I must say they all have done really well trying to make the passenger as comfortable as can be. I was most impressed with 2 different airports. Ft. Lauderdale, which has beautiful Terrazzo work in it. Shining and clean with sea life mosaics put into the work. Yes a work of art no doubt.

When I returned however I stopped to see friends and family in Jacksonville Florida. I hadn’t flown out or into that air port in years. What I saw when I walked into the lobby to the gates was Terrazzo on a large scale! Large murals in-lade in the floor, shine, colors, mosaics and it glittered! Which is what made me look closer to see that it really New Terrazzo. I went onto the JIA website to see if I could find this Terrazzo Design company that did this work, and found the Terrazzo design contractor to this beautiful new floor. As I read about this company they write We believe that The Arts are an essential part of any community as the cultural expression of society. Certainly a community may “survive” with only the barest essentials; commerce, education, food, housing, and the like, but it can only truly “thrive” in an environment rich in culture. Which is what they did with this beautifully designed and stunning floor in a very busy international airport. The colors and design add to the comfort and relaxed atmosphere in the newly remodel airport.

I wrote to compliment them on the work and got a Thank you, as they directed me to the Public art project in the airport. So I did what any person who just thought this was the most amazing thing seen done with concrete shells, marble chip and silver flacks in a blue sea of shining color and inlaid mosaics, I took pictures. So I took some pictures and preceded to go to visit my family and friends who being from the area had seen this before.
