Resources for Home Renovation
Help for Homeowners
by Bill Thornton
Home renovation is always a smart investment. This is especially true during difficult economic times. Housing prices are low, and many contractors are offering incentives to stimulate business in a slow economy. These conditions make it optimal to renovate a home now.
If your home features a terrazzo floor, you may not realize the great value this can add to the home.
While installing new terrazzo floors is cost prohibitive for many, restoring existing terrazzo floors is highly cost effective.
Not only are restored terrazzo floors a beautiful addition to the look of any home, they are highly sought after. A properly restored terrazzo floor (done by a terrazzo floor expert) can add substantially to a home\’s resale value.
Terrazzo floors also provide other, often overlooked benefits. A newly renovated terrazzo floor can add to the energy efficiency of a home when properly sealed. A properly reconditioned terrazzo floor can also significantly improve the air quality and overall environmental health of any structure, helping to make your home successfully “green”. Finding Resources for Home Renovation
Help is on the way!
There are many resources now available to help homeowners renovate and update the energy efficiency of their homes. Funds currently available for renovation from the US Government include:
a) Tax Incentives and b) Grants
1) Tax Incentives – The US Department of Energy is offering tax incentives for current home owners for 2009, 2010. Some projects are illegible for up to $1500, some have no upper limit.
2) Grants The Energy Star Program (Federal Tax Credits for Energy Efficiency) is offering grants of up to $6500 per household for renovations that increase a home’s energy efficiency.
There is also help available from The US Department of Energy, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. They provide home energy audits to enable you to better understand what renovations your home needs to maximize your home energy efficiency levels.
One other excellent resource is Florida Power and Light (FPL). FPL offers a free home energy efficiency audit, and a $300 voucher for insulation installation.
